Level Up Enrichment Opportunities

Program Description - UTK - 8th

The San Diego Unified School District has once again partnered with the San Diego Foundation to provide UTK-8 enrichment programming. Programming will vary in interest including, but not limited to:

  • Outdoor & Nature
  • Sports & Fitness
  • Art & Music
  • Dance
  • Reading & Writing
  • STEM/STEAM

Priority 1 Enrollment UTK-8 will receive a TEXT beginning March 21, 2023

Open/General Enrollment UTK-8 will receive a TEXT beginning April 4, 2023

2023 College Experience and Near Peer Mentor Application- University of San Diego June 20- July 15 & Aug 5, 2023

The San Diego Unified School District will be working with outside organizations as well as our own CCTE & VAPA departments to provide enrichment programming to our 9-12 grade students. Programs will focus on:

  • College & Career Exploration
  • Visual, Media & Performing Arts
  • Sports & Fitness 
  • STEM & STEAM
  • Internships

Priority 1 Enrollment 9-12 will receive a TEXT beginning April 4, 2023

Open/General Enrollment will receive a TEXT beginning April 17, 2023


Student Eligibility

To be eligible to participate in an enrichment program being offered students must be currently enrolled for the 2022-2023 academic school year. Any students who may be pre-enrolled for the next academic school year of 2023-2024 are not eligible at this time. 


Registration Period

Enrichment program registration will once again be facilitated by InPlay. Families will receive a text message inviting their student to register in a program beginning in the Spring. Please be sure to work with your student's school site to ensure the correct cell phone number is in PowerSchool- this cell phone number will be the one InPlay will utilize to initiate registration.

Q: What is Level up?

A: San Diego Unified has once again partnered with the San Diego Foundation to provide enrichment programs for current district student grades UTK through eighth grade.

Programs grades UTK through eighth will vary and may include:

Q: Is Level Up the same as the enrichment programs?

A: Yes. You may hear the district speak about the enrichment programs offered during the summer. The district is referring to the Level Up enrichment summer program.

Q: How do I enroll my student in Level Up Enrichment?

A: Registration will once again be facilitated by InPlay. Families will receive a text message inviting their student to register in a program beginning in the spring. Please be sure to work with your student's school to ensure the correct cell phone number is in PowerSchool. Your cell phone number will be the one InPlay will utilize to initiate registration.

Q: What is InPlay?

A: InPlay will be the registration portal for Level Up enrichment programs. InPlay will initiate registration by sending a unique web-based link via text message for each student to the cell phone number listed in PowerSchool. Please ensure your student’s PowerSchool profile has your updated cell number in the cell phone field.

Q: How can I make sure my current cell number is in PowerSchool?

A: Please contact your current school site to ensure each of your currently enrolled student’s cell phone number in PowerSchool is up-to-date.

Q: I’m not receiving text messages regarding the Level Up Enrichment programs. What should I do?

A: Contact your current school to ensure your cell phone number is up-to-date.

Q: I get so many spam texts. How do I ensure that I don’t delete a Level up text message?

A: Below is a sample text message you will receive from InPlay:

Q: What are the locations of the Level Up Enrichment programs?

A: Locations will vary depending on interest. 

Q: Are enrichment programs happening on campus?

A: Many enrichment programs will be happening on the same campuses where the academic program is taking place. However, some activities will be offered off-site. Parents can choose either option.

Q: What is the deadline to enroll in the Level Up (enrichment) program?

A: There is no deadline to enroll in the Level Up enrichment programs, however, programs will not show as available once their seat capacity has been reached. Each seat capacity will vary program-to-program.

Q: Is the Level Up enrichment program available to all grade levels?

A: Yes, all currently enrolled UTK-12 students may participate in the Level up program.

Q: Is Level Up enrichment enrollment priority given to the summer academic attendees?

A: No.

Q: Does signing up for the academic summer program guarantee a spot in the Level Up enrichment program?

A: No.

Q: Is my student required to be enrolled in the PrimeTime summer program to participate in the Level Up enrichment program?

A: No.

Q: Does the Level Up enrichment program run five days a week?

A: Yes. Most programs will run five days a week with differing start and end times. Please note that not every program across all grade levels will be a five day a week program. Before registering your student, please be sure to look at the program schedule to ensure it fits the needs of your student and your family.

Q: What are the hours of Level Up enrichment programs?

A: Hours vary depending on the program your student is participating in.

Q: Are the Level Up enrichment programs full day or part-time?

A: Both options will be available. Before registering your student, please be sure to look at the program schedule to ensure it fits the needs of your student and your family.

Q: Can I enroll my student in both the summer academic program and Level Up enrichment?

A: Yes. However, please ensure program times do not overlap.

Q: Does my child need to be enrolled in the summer academic program to be able to participate in the Level Up Enrichment program?

A: No. You can just enroll your student in the Level Up Enrichment program.

Q: Can I enroll my student in multiple Level Up enrichment camps?

A: Yes. Programs must not overlap in dates and times.

Q: Does each of the school sites offer the same Level Up enrichment programs, or do the program offerings vary?

A: Programs will vary.

Q: Is lunch provided to students who attend the Level Up enrichment programs?

A: Lunch will be provided for students participating in the Level Up enrichment programs at district school sites. Please check with the off-site Level Up enrichment program about providing lunch to your student(s).

Q: What if my student needs accommodation or 504 supports for enrichment activities?

A: Please contact the program provider directly to arrange for support. The program provider contact information should be included in the message you received confirming enrollment in the program.
