San Diego Unified School District

San Diego Unified is celebrating arts education with dozens of student produced events that encourage students to create, innovate, and inspire others to embrace diversity and dream big.

March is California Arts Education month and The San Diego Unified School District is taking part by celebrating with art themed events at nearly every neighborhood school within the district. San Diego Unified is committed to providing a well-rounded education, that includes all four arts disciplines. Dance, music, theater and the visual arts are taught by highly-qualified teachers at every instructional level - elementary, middle and high school.

The state of collaboration between the San Diego arts community and our schools has never been stronger. Together, we have created a 5-year plan to deliver a world-class arts education to every San Diego student, because we know an arts education truly does transform lives. We are proud of the talent within our schools and would like to invite the media to cover the month long celebration which will include dance, music, theater, literature and visual art showcases.

Furthermore, San Diego Unified is honoring the various types of art with two different themes throughout the weeks. Week 1: 3/9 - 3/15 - Music in our schools, Week 2: 3/15 - 3/27 - Diversity in our schools
