Clairemont senior is state wrestling champ
Clairemont High's Stephanie Maldonado learned a valuable lesson in 2016 when she had to battle back through numerous rounds before finishing fourth in the girls state wrestling championships in Visalia:
It's not good to lose early.
So Maldonado went one better this weekend - she didn't lose at all.
The Chieftains senior rolled through the heavyweight division, pinning all four of her opponents, including McNair's Foatino Moala in the title match in 4:33 to claim the section's lone gold medal.
With the victory, Maldonado improved to 25-1 for the season.
