WHAT: The San Diego Unified School District in partnership with the USS Midway and Raytheon have come together to inspire students to aim for careers in the STEM fields.

WHERE: USS Midway, 910 N Harbor Dr., San Diego, CA 92101
DETAILS: Students from Logan K-8 will board the USS Midway for a hands-on robotics and engineering experience. Friday's STEM lab is just one of the various college and career readiness programs the district hosts throughout the year.
Once aboard the USS Midway, students will participate in a unique robotics program with Raytheon mechanical engineers. The program developed in partnership with Raytheon is aimed at increasing student interest in the high tech careers of the future.
Throughout the 2017 - 2018 school year more than 4,000 students are given the opportunity to take part in unique programs intended to give them hands-on learning experiences. Some of the other programs include partnerships with Seaworld, Sally Ride Science through the University of California, San Diego, Qualcomm and more.
“It is important to continue to increase students' exposure to careers of the future, by exposing students to programs like this and giving them opportunities to explore STEM related careers, they will develop a love for it and hopefully pursue a job in a STEM field.” said Cindy Marten, San Diego Unified School District Superintendent.
