MEDIA ADVISORY: More than 100 San Diego Youth to Play at Copley Symphony Hall San Diego Unified Students Present High School Honors Concert
WHAT: Student musicians from 12 San Diego Unified School District high schools will perform at the Jacobs Music Center Symphony Hall. Students will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play on the San Diego Symphony stage.
The students were selected by audition to perform major band and orchestral works under the direction of guest conductors Albert Jeung, Director of Orchestras in the Capistrano Unified Schools District and Dr. Shannon Kitelinger, San Diego State University Director of Bands.
The two performing groups, High School Honor Band and High School Honor Orchestra, include more than 100 students from Hoover High School, La Jolla High School, Mira Mesa High School, Mission Bay High School, Morse High School, Patrick Henry High School, Point Loma High School, San Diego High School, the School of Creative & Performing Arts, Scripps Ranch High School, Serra High School and University City High School.
Every year, San Diego Unified students present three Instrumental Honor Concerts, -- Elementary, Middle and High School, showcasing the high level of musical achievement of the students.
The San Diego Unified School District is proud of its commitment to arts education, and is thrilled to announce that several of the student musicians participating in Sunday's concert have been offered music scholarships to colleges across the nation.
Admission to the concert is free and open to the public.
