BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 Housing Stability Assistance Program is a federally funded program administered by SDHC for the City of San Diego. The online application is available at covidassistance.sdhc.org<https://covidassistance.sdhc.org/>. More than $83 million is available through the COVID-19 Housing Stability Assistance Program to help qualifying households with rent and utility payments. Immigration status does not affect whether or not a household qualifies for help from the program.
San Diego Unified recognizes the many challenges families have faced over the past year, including the struggle to pay rent due to new economic hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Housing instability and the added stress that goes along with it can have negative impacts on the well-being and academic achievement of students.
All students deserve the opportunity to thrive and enjoy the benefits that come with stable housing.
