There are so many things going on here at Bird Rock Elementary; here are some of the ways we keep you up-to-date.

eBlast

Bird Rock has gone "green". Most school information will be supplied through eBlast instead of Tuesday envelopes. To submit information for the eblast - deadline is 5 pm on Wednesday - please submit this form. Click here for past eBlasts

Health and Safety

Please be sure to report any instances of lice to the front office so we can document the cases and ensure extra cleaning is done in the classroom. If your child does have lice you must treat them at home. It is mandatory for the student to return to school the next day, via the health office, for inspection. The student may return to class provided the lice has been treated and there are no live lice in the hair. Please incorporate inspecting your child's hair as a part of your regular hygiene routine. Tuesday Envelopes

Each Tuesday, students bring home a manila envelope filled with classroom announcements. Please empty the envelope, review the materials, initial the outside of the envelope, and return it to school on Wednesday.

BR Foundation Meetings

BR Foundation meetings are held once a month. All parents as well as their input are welcome. In addition to reviewing school programs and fundraising needs, the Principal and the Teacher Representative share relevant school news and information at the meetings. Governance Team

Meeting agendas and minutes are posted in the breezeway across from the office. Meetings are open to the public and parents are encouraged to attend. Read more "

Open House

Open houses are held twice a year. The first open house, held in September, is an adult only event where parents have the opportunity to meet their child's teacher and hear what is planned for the year. The spring open house is for students and their parents. It is a festive atmosphere where classrooms display students' work and celebrate the accomplishments of the school year.

Flag and Award Assemblies

Each Wednesday begins with an assembly in the auditorium. School announcements are made, various awards are presented, and classrooms and student groups give presentations (You will be notified in advance if your child is receiving an award or taking part in a presentation).

School Site Council

This is a shared decision-making body composed of parents, staff and classified personnel. They oversee the Site Plan and Title I budget. They also identify needs for academic programs and set budgets. Read more "

Volunteer

The best way to know what is going on at your school is to be a part of it - contribute your time and ideas. All efforts are appreciated. There are many ways to help in the classroom, for special school events, and on committees. Parent Conferences

On parent conference days, school will be dismissed at 12:50 PM. This is an excellent time for you to meet with the teacher and review your child's progress. There are conference days scheduled in November and February. Please schedule additional conferences with your child's teacher any time you feel they are needed.

Parent Room Representatives

PTA Room Representatives act as the liaison between teachers and parents. They assist teachers with class projects, stuffing Tuesday envelopes, organization of parent volunteers, parties, and field trips. In addition, they support school-wide functions, including the Teacher Relief days, Teacher Appreciation Week activities, class donations to the annual Spring Auction, etc. Look in your child's Tuesday envelope for the sign-up form.
